Crepes are incredibly easy to make and they are delicious. A great recipe to make with kids. You can also make them sweet or savory which makes crepes a great option for a weekend brunch.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of all purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 1/2 cup of water
- 2 tbs of butter
- 1/4 tbs of salt
Directions
Making the batter
The most important thing to remember when making the batter is to make sure your ingredients are all at room temperature. Make sure your eggs come to room temperature before using them.
Melt the butter and set it aside to cool down to room temperature.
Mix the flour and eggs in a bowl first. Then add the milk slowly while you whisk. Same thing goes with the water. Finally, add the butter along with the salt.
Congratulations, the batter is ready! You can use it now or cover it and place it in the fridge for later.
It helps to have a sous chef for the whisking part… 😆
Now, let’s cook some crepes!
Heat up a non-stick pan to medium-high heat. Wait for the pan to be hot, then start making your crepes.
Scoop about 1/4 cup of the crepe mix into the pan for each crepe. Pour the batter into the center of your pan and tilt the pan around to spread the crepe evenly as a circle.
Cook the crepe until you see some bubbles forming, about 1 – 2 minutes depending on heat. After you see a good amount of bubbles flip the crepe to cook the other side. When you turn it, the cooked side should be a nice golden brown color. If it does not look quite right don’t worry, there are a ton more crepes to make -After the second or third crepe you’ll get the hang of it.
Have some fun making crepes!
Using a squeeze bottle you can do fun things like draw on the pan with the batter. This is great to do with kids.
